Metroid: Additional M (メトロイド アザーエム Metoroido Azā Emu) is your most popular Metroid game, announced by Nintendo at E3 2009 plus a collaboration between Team Ninja and Nintendo. An interquel between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion, the game focuses on Samus’ personality more than in prior games with the emphasis on the game’s narrative. Other M is performed with a Wii Remote like this NES Controller, while organizing it at the screen switches the view into a first-person view much like this Prime series.

The remainder of the platoon then arrives, although Lyle Smithsonian is missing. Investigating, Samus discovers the cybernetic body of a Space Pirate Zebesian using the Galactic Federation insignia in the torso. The platoon discovers that the intention behind this BOTTLE SHIP was supposed to conduct research on bioweapons, a practice that’s illegal inside the Federation. They know the individual in charge of the job was Dr. Madeline Bergman.
A big purple monster launches itself in Samus in the Exam Centre’s tower.
Outside, the Platoon is assaulted outside by a sizable lizard-like creature, who viciously attacks Samus when she comes to assist them. She’s ordered to follow the lizard creature.
A Federation Trooper running a sizable Ferrocrusher machine strikes Samus in the Cryosphere Warehouse.
Midway into her hunt to your Mystery Creature at Sector 3, Samus is redirected to the freezing Sector 2 to search for survivors. While there, she discovers the body of Maurice Favreau and spots a young woman in the Materials Storehouse, who flees. Samus provides chase and tries to talk the woman down. Samus destroys the system, however, the operator flows.
Returning to Sector 3, Samus concludes that there is a traitor inside the 07th Platoon, also nicknames him»that the Deleter» till she learns his true identity. Back in Sector 3, Samus encounters Anthony. He explains he had been sent to open the magma-eruption port at the Geothermal Power Plant, along with the rest of the Platoon. But, none of the comrades showed up in the rendezvous point. Parting out of Anthony, Samus continues until she finds out the empty husk of the lizard creature. Samus enters the dimly lit Geothermal Power Plant and reunites with Anthony. Samus, confronting it alone, opens the magma-eruption port and brings light to the room. To her horror, the creature is revealed to be none aside from her nemesis Ridley, whom she considered to be permanently killed with the devastation of Zebes. Overcome by posttraumatic stress disorder, Samus is unable to rescue Anthony when he’s apparently murdered by Ridley. Samus’s anger enables her to combat Ridley once again. He escapes.
Samus is forced to combat Ridley again.
Leaving the Pyrosphere, Samus recognizes she cannot contact Adam, and anxieties the Deleter could be or already has targeted him. She then spots among her comrades entering Sector 1. Samus pursues him into the Bioweapon Research Center, where she finds the young woman . After calming down, the girl introduces herself as Madeline Bergman. She reveals that the Federation was gathering Zebesians and other deadly organisms to improve them through cybernetics to function as a special-forces device to the Federation, right following the first Space Pirates. The job became devastating when a»certain presence» (Samus assumes she’s referring to Ridley) caused the entire life forms to become aggressive beyond their own control.
Madeline shows more; the scientists have been dispersing Metroids as well, cloned from remains of the baby found on Samus’s Power Suit after her return by Zebes. They unknowingly recreated Ridley also. Madeline also shows that an AI called»MB», modelled after Mother Brain, also was created for the purpose of restraining the Metroids. MB along with the Metroids were stored at Sector Zero. Madeline goes to state that Adam is supporting Project Metroid Warriors. Samus leaves for Sector Zero.
Arriving at the entrance into Sector Zero, Samus encounters a Baby Metroid which reminds her of their hatchling out of SR388. Until she can kill it, she is struck from behind, disabling her Power Suit. Samus admits her attacker as Adam, who kills the Metroid just as fast. Adam asserts that Metroids at Sector Zero were genetically manipulated to become unfreezable, while assuming that infant Metroids haven’t grown into this invulnerability. In addition, he explains that he’d composed the Metroid report against the notion of using Metroids; although the Federation consented, a little faction of the Federation went forward with the project.
Adam reveals that he plans to enter Sector Zero to set off its self-destruct mechanics and cause it to detach in the BOTTLE SHIP. He shot Samus to render her unable to storm beyond him. Before leaving, he requests Samus to locate a survivor in Room MW, to divert the BOTTLE SHIP off an intercept course with Galactic Federation Headquarters and also to conquer Ridley. He and Samus are thus permitted under the Chairman’s orders to shoot Madeline together. On the holiday home, Samus questions if MB was really evil all along, or misunderstood.
Before this, Samus returns to recover an important treasure, Adam’s helmet, which she finds in the Control Area after beating Phantoon, a supervisor that appeared in Super Metroid. The ship’s self-destruct sequence is triggered shortly afterward. During a countdown, Samus promptly escapes the BOTTLE SHIP using the helmet before it’s destroyed.
The events of Metroid Fusion follow.
Sakamoto maintained later in a meeting that he regretted absolutely nothing about the project and felt that very little could have changed or been done . It completely reflected his first vision of the match. He had been worried about how the fans would choose the Search View attribute’s lack of movement, but he didn’t need to bring the confusion of figuring out where players were after switching between the two views; he anticipated backlash but believed it was still the ideal way to go.Yoshio Sakamoto has said that the main focus of the game was supposed to show Samus’ character, because the Prime series abandoned many players with their idea of who he was, and he also wanted her to be constant for any future titles. The game was also intended to seamlessly blend cutscenes using gameplay. As a result, the story and gameplay were created simultaneously. Much of the criticism was aimed in the extended unskippable cutscenes (which could be skipped in the final version of this game after a couple of moments from the beginning of the cinematic by pressing the — button, but only in an already completed game file), poor script and plot composing, the scene of Samus’s reaction to Ridley in relation to her mindset in prior matches, and some overly melodramatic dialogue. However, some reviews praised these qualities and didn’t see them as negative.
Particular criticism was directed at the Ridley scene, and that confused many. Her posttraumatic stress disorder falls in upon viewing Ridley again about the BOTTLE SHIP. This is strange given that if the chronological order of the games is taken into consideration, this could be the time Ridley has been struck by Samus after he killed her parents: twice in Metroid: Zero Mission (albeit one being a robot constructed in Ridley’s image), Metroid Prime, twice in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Metroid: Samus Returns, and Super Metroid. These offenses were also backed up with the fact that every one of the females from the match wore heels for no apparent reason — an option that was especially ridiculous for Samus, contemplating her high-activity field of the armor she wears over them (ironically, even when the Zero Suit was unveiled in Zero Mission, the idea artwork had a note by Yoshio Sakamoto especially stating not to include high heels into the layout ).
